The Arts Council will provide a series of workshops that will be held at the Gallery, 109 Fall Street, Seneca Falls. Workshops are on Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm. The cost is $40 per person per workshop and re-registration is required. You can register at the gallery or with the instructor.
Saturday, October 8 - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (1 hr. lunch break) Cost: $40 Pastel Landscape with Bev Lombardo The class will show layering techniques to create a finished landscape using hard and soft pastels on pastel paper. No oil pastels. Bring your own pastels and pastel paper. Also bring a photograph of the landscape you would like to paint. If you need supplies, they can be provided for a minimal fee. Saturday, October 15 - Half hour session starting at 10 a.m. $10 Learn the Basics of Your Digital Camera with Phil Snyder Phil will spend a half hour with you explaining what your camera can do and how to use it. Bring your camera and the instruction manual that came with it. Stop at the gallery to sign-up for your half-hour time slot (between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.) Pre-registration and payment required.
Saturday, October 22 - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (1 hr. lunch break) Cost: $40 Haiku and Watercolor - Creating Illustrated Poems Join us for a two-part workshop led by published poet, Patricia Roth Schwartz, and watercolor artist, Abby Gazely From 10 am-12 pm, learn from Pat how to write haiku, an ancient form of poetry from China and Japan. Haiku are usually only three lines long, often focusing on images of the natural world. Through writing exercises create some haiku of your own. Then, after a lunch break, illustrate your poems with watercolor, instructed by Abby. If you have watercolor supplies, bring them. If not, they will be provided. Saturday, October 29 - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (1 hr. lunch break) Cost: $40 Watercolor: Lights and Darks to Create Depth in a Landscape with Mike Novik Learn a technique using a 2'' stiff bristled brush as well as a rigger brush for fine details. Other favorite brushes of each person could also be used. Mike has found that just using 2 brushes, works very well with some practice and imagination. This technique is wonderful for painting overgrown grass and fields with weeds and brush. A very detailed painting can be achieved in a short time. Thursday, November 3 - 6:30-9:30 p.m. Cost: $25 Free Your Creative Spirit with Bev Lombardo Are your paintings getting to tight? Do you need fresh inspiration? Do you need to free your creative spirit? This fun exercise will help you look in new directions and bring some fun to your painting style.
